30 degrees in the morning, 60 degrees by lunch
Here's what to wear for...that (for both men and women).
If you live on the East Coast, we’ve officially entered the time of year where the day fluctuates up to 30 degrees. When I wake up to do my morning commute, the air is frigid, my hands are frozen, and no jacket I choose is ever correct. By the time I take my lunch break, the day has manifested into beautiful peak spring, my coworkers taking the time to absorb as much Vitamin D as possible before ending up back at the desk. By dusk, the air still retains a slight warmth before returning to frigid before morning.
I’ve seen a lot of funny Tweets/Substack Notes/Instagram Stories I can’t find about this, so it seems like we all need some help in terms of transitional dressing. I am a corporate warrior, and if 5 days a week in the office for three years has taught me anything, it’s how to dress for whatever the day has in store.
I broke this out into men’s and women’s so that the gentlemen of Coffee Order can also enjoy, or your boyfriends/husbands can be helped.
WOMENS
Layer 1: Jackets and Coats
We’re starting with the outside and working inwards. I have approximately 25 overlayers perfect from the 6 weeks where February turns into April. Some of them were $50, some of them were $500. This deems me an expert on lightweight jackets.
Gu Denim Jacket ($39.90) Shoutout Tommy, my Gu king. This is quite adorable and gives the appearance of something much more expensive.
The Real Real Barbour Utility Jacket ($84) I got one of my most prized possessions—a double breasted Dolce and Gabbana cropped trench with cheetah-printed lining—from TRR last fall. I’m obsessed with this one from Barbour, which is also a smart investment.
