Awesome on accident
Stumbled upon the best weekend ever(?/.)
A note from the editor: how does everyone feel about a 9 AM Coffee Order? Does the hour make a difference? As some may say—sound off in the comments below.
First and foremost—thank you all SO MUCH, from the bottom of my heart, for your support and celebration of the Indy Knitty x Coffee Order collaboration. This was the first time I took things to the next level on this little blog of mine, and I had a little bit of imposter syndrome with how seriously you all treated this as something legitimate, and not just a passion project of one of your friends. I have the best readers in the world! And now the cutest, for those of you who bought a hat. India is knitting the day away so you will have them shortly.
I come to you after an hour long massage followed by sauna and steam shower at the Hotel Chelsea Spa—my favorite place in the world. This might be perhaps the best mood I’ve ever written this letter in.
There is nothing more serendipitous than an accidentally amazing weekend. I had plans Friday, Saturday, and Sunday that sat on my calendar for a few weeks now, so it’s not like I had no idea what would be going on. Little things fell into place in between, reminding me why I’m so lucky to live in a place where happy accidents can occur at the drop of a hat.
On Friday, I was able to leave work a little early and spend some time at home before meeting my college friends for a drink (or three) at The Standard in the East Village. One of them had family in town which was an amazing excuse to get us all together, including one of my best friends, Elizabeth, who was stolen from us (New York) by Nashville. She derailed her returning flight from a work trip from Los Angeles and graced us with what was the first of many delightful spontaneities of the weekend. The Standard East Village is a great place to grab a chill drink if a) you have a lot of people, b) want something relaxed, and c) want something central to either going home after or continuing the night.
Spending time with my college friend group in its entirety is something I cherish a lot. We’ve been on trips together that are some of the happiest memories in my adult life, we’re often all on the same page of things we want to do or see, and we’re happy just sitting around and talking about the same things over a hundred times. I also love getting to meet their families and seeing the people who shaped the friends I love so much. We had a lovely time, all in all. I wore this Favorite Daughter top (linked similar if you don’t want to buy from Poshmark), my baggy ReDone jeans, a vintage belt, and my ponyhair Prada loafers from The Real Real (linked similar).
I started Saturday at the farmers market, which is a great way to start any Saturday, but an even better way if you’re graced with the weather we had in NYC. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky, the sun was warm in contrast to the crisp November air, and it proved the Weather App wrong once again. I had an apple muffin from She Wolf bakery to top things off.
Later on Saturday, I went to Los Angeles Apparel with my besties, Eliza and Elizabeth. This was my inaugural voyage to Los Angeles Apparel, despite psychoanalyzing it a few weeks back on this public forum:
We're so...back?
This week, I was thinking about proceeding business as usual on Coffee Order, writing about my week and things I’ve bought (which I can tell you about if you want), but inspiration struck while scrolling today.
My public statement is that Brandy Melville has been left in the fucking dust as long as I’m concerned. I wanted everything in the store. I walked away with this turtleneck, these pants, this top, this tee, and these tights. Shopping there made me feel like I was in an indie sleaze daydream. The employees at the store in Soho do make the Brandy Melville gals look like girl scouts, so just be prepared for a little bit of hostility. In my eyes, it’s part of the charm. The three of us also got matching neon pink scrunchies.
Afterwards, I headed to Bushwick to celebrate my dear friend, Victoria’s birthday. Victoria is one of my favorite people I have met in my adult life, so celebrating her is very easy. Sometimes I think calling people “work friends” is a little bit misleading, because there is nobody I spend more time with so they are just my “friends”. My friends from work—I suppose—and I spent the night together, which I felt very lucky to have taken up 6 of their 7 week days. We headed to Carmelo’s where I had a nightcap before heading back to Manhattan and passing out for about ten hours.

My drunk pajamas of choice were this Christmas set I got from Nordstrom years ago. Woke up with a bad case of the stripes.
On Sunday, I joined Eliza and Elizabeth once again for brunch at Buvette. We sat in the back corner in the very last booth which felt like we were on some sort of ski vacation. I love Buvette and forget how much I love it until I go every few months. I got their iced coffee and a croque madame. We also saw this Frenchie in a cowboy costume.

I finished the day at the Hotel Chelsea Spa, where I got The Cure 60 minute massage. I am now more zen than ever and going to make spaghetti for dinner while watching the Knicks game. I’ve been deep in a Veep rewatch which is just delightful especially during a government shutdown. If we cannot cry, we must laugh.
I’ve been reading the Fran Lebowitz Reader which I highly recommend. I love books of essays and they are very easy to fly through since it is a series of new ideas every few pages and does not get stale. I think I will watch Frankenstein tonight with Jacob Elordi and Mia Goth as well, because my friend Ashley said it was good, gory, and a little erotic. Kind of just what the doctor ordered for this Sunday.
You can still order a Coffee Order Beanie by Indy Knitty if you wish. We haven’t decided when we want to stop accepting orders, and they are rolling out at India’s availability. Shop below, and I’ll see you on Friday!
