We began the day on the J Train, headed to the AirTrain, headed to JFK.
Commuting to JFK from the Lower East Side is no better than when I was commuting there from Fairfield, Connecticut. It takes just as long and the motion sickness has only gotten worse as I’ve gotten older. Although boring and clunky, the best pipeline I’ve found instead of taking a Blade Helicopter is the one described.
I was really excited to eat at the airport because it would be my first time in the Delta Sky Lounge. Some of you may know this story already, but I impulsively enrolled in the Delta Skymiles Card while stranded in the Jacksonville Airport back in October so that I could camp out in their mid lounge.
The lounge at JFK makes the Jacksonville one look like a 7/11. I enjoyed complimentary champagne and pebbled crushed ice before boarding a 7 hour adventure in Comfort+. A father with his son asked to switch seats with me so that they could sit together, however declined for the following reasons: 1. I paid for the window Comfort+ seat to have a good start to my first-ever international solo trip, 2. the dad was sitting directly in front of us, and 3. I grew up with a father who sat in first class while the rest of us were in row 35. I suffer no fools, and encourage every young family to build independence from the start, even if we’re all trapped on a flying aluminum tube across the Atlantic, so independence doesn’t really exist at all.
I was going to check a bag before realizing that traveling by myself meant that I didn’t really need to stunt on anyone besides once or twice. I’m method traveling by going full Scandinavian, capsule wardrobe, blues, blacks, and whites, Vibram Fivefingers, etc. Here’s my comprehensive packing list:
