iPad boyfriend
Enjoying my rent.
I’ve felt away from home for like a month now.
You all don’t need to hear me talk about how busy I’ve been, because I’ve exhausted that. I had another jam-packed week of very fun activities—seeing Jackie Schimmel live at Gramercy Theater, catching up over dinner with friends, playing hooky on Friday to get BLTs at Maiden Lane (ethically, because I took a Summer Friday)—so when it came to the weekend, I was ready to chill.

The summer gives me terrible outside guilt. With all the rain, we need to savor these sunny weekends in the city. I always feel like I need to be doing things, getting out of the house and being on the streets. But when I’m on the streets, I spend a minimum of $100. Because of this, I decided to lay low on Friday night and Saturday during the day, spending my time watching movies, painting, cleaning out my closet, and simply getting readjusted to my normal routine. I had also gotten enough sun on Friday, loitering on one of my best friend’s roofs.
I watched I Love You Forever, Cazzie David’s debut directorial feature. I had bought tickets to see it in the city when it first came out, but didn’t make it to the screening. I love Cazzie’s writing, her book of essays Nobody Asked For This is one of my favorite books, so I was excited to finally sit down and watch her first movie. It was alright, it kind of felt like a high school PSA for emotional abuse, but I appreciated how funny David’s character was.
The second movie I watched was Opus, which I also wanted to see in the theater but wasn’t able to. I watched this at 3 pm on Saturday, which was awesome. I can’t remember the last time I watched a movie alone during the day. Again, fine. I ranked both around 2.5-3 stars on Letterboxd. I feel like I’ve seen the plot of Opus way too many times in the last five years, it was like Get Out x Blink Twice. The cast was amazing, but the plot lost me.
I also caught up on the televised trainwreck that is Next Gen NYC on Bravo. It’s so bad I can’t stop watching it. Charlie needs to be exiled from New York City. Brooks Marks isn’t made for T.V. like his mother. Georgia is so confusing to me. Ariana Biermann is amazing. That’s all I have left to say about it.
Something I love doing at home is watercoloring. I haven’t given a store-bought card in months. Saturday, I just did it for fun. I was very impressed with myself:

If you want me to paint you something for your home, I would love to do so, free of charge.
A key asset to my alone time at home is my iPad. I’ve expressed extreme love for my iPad on here before, but it’s really like a third arm for me.
After about 24 hours of solitude, I was ready to rejoin the world and put the iPad down for dinner with my girls at Demo in the West Village. It’s a serious hidden gem that I highly recommend. The perfect date or chic dinner spot. The menu was interesting—lots of vinegar and fish—but delicious nonetheless.
My friend Elizabeth always brings something fun to the table, literally. On Saturday, she brought us tattoo chokers to join her crusade to bring them back. It was a cause I was happy to support. We wore them all night, taking 2016-esque spooky selfies until the wee hours of the morning. Nobody asked about them, which was disappointing. If you see girls in the Lower East Side wearing them come fall, you know who started it.

We continued our night at three certified cool-person locations: Fanelli’s, Le Dive, and Clandestino. Demo was delicious, but it was one of those dinners where you leave hungry, so I had to order some mozzarella sticks at Fanelli’s to compliment my dirty martini.
The weekend wrapped up with my quarterly trip to Soothr, accompanied by my dad and sister. It truly is some of the best food in the world, as my dad says. If you go, you cannot skip the pork dumplings or the duck noodles. They are seriously unmatched. The service there is also always superb. I tried Thai iced tea for the first time, and now I’m addicted, so that’s great.
This week, I continued my streak of great dressing, not to flatter myself. I’m utilizing pieces in my closet that usually go unworn, mixing and matching new things with old to create outfits never before-seen. I also donated a lot to ThredUp, so I’m feeling good about my wardrobe again. I’m going to try to keep dressing well so that I can do these roundups with links weekly:
I can’t find the tee in white so here’s a black version on eBay. Levi’s Baggy Dad Jeans, Vibram FiveFingers. Saint Laurent Sunglasses.
Susana Monaco tube top. Favorite Daughter silk skirt. Tabi Ballerina’s.
Cleo Tee. Favorite Daughter Capris. Sandy Liang x Salomon Rx Moc 3.0. Saint Laurent Sunglasses.
Cou Cou Intimates Scrunchie. I can’t find the one I’m wearing so here’s a similar Yankees Baby Tee. Also can’t find this Brandy Melville Skirt so here’s a similar one.
One of my best friends, India, gave me this Isabel Marant dress from The Real Real that she wanted to get rid of. I’m obsessed with it and have worn it twice since receiving it on Wednesday. Here’s a similar one that’s not as perfect as mine but still cute. I paired it with these Tory Burch flats, linked similar.
Favorite Daughter Top, linked in Black because Navy is like five years old. Favorite Daughter Skirt, old so linked similar. Vintage Chanel Ballet Flats, linked similar.
Justine Clenquet Devil Heart Earrings. Urban Outfitters Bra Top from college, linked same one on Poshmark. Carla Fernandez Pants. Tabi Ballerina’s. Tabi Ballerina’s.
Here’s to another week where I’m hopefully still dripped down. I’m so over this heat.
