January 10538473th
So, how are those resolutions?
It snowed a lot yesterday. I hope you all put Saturday’s post to good use. I know I did:

You may have noticed that Coffee Order has received a slight facelift, thanks to the help of my friends Chloe and Emily, two brilliant graphic designers who helped me redesign our logo, headers, and COCO (IYKYK) banner. This feels like a real publication now. But the only thing different is it just looks that way. Thank you Chloe & Emily x100, and please consider using them if you have any personal or professional design requests.
I was just telling someone how fast I felt January was moving, until it came to a screeching halt this past week. My friends and I were also discussing how warm it’s been—ha. Women plan, Mother Nature laughs. It’s been so cold that I’ve started to wear tights under my pants everywhere, at least three layers on my torso, and internally scold anyone who isn’t wearing a hat and gloves.
On Friday, my mom and I visited Peacock Alley at the newly-renovated Waldorf Astoria in midtown. The hostesses wore very tight gold-sequined gowns which was very interesting to me. We ordered Pornstar Martinis and engaged in excellent people watching. Lots of young couples at such a dry, stuffy place, it was fascinating to me. I wondered if any of them had come from the new JP Morgan building down the street. The space itself is very beautiful and grandiose, I don’t think I’ve ever been in a building as large in Manhattan, let alone anywhere else since I was in London or Paris. The service was impeccable—which I guess is what you pay for—and I recommend going there for a special occasion.

This was a special occasion, in fact, because we were going to see Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen at their live show afterwards. Anderson Cooper is my favorite male celebrity. I’ve seen him once before at the 92nd Street Y, where he discussed the Astor Family which isn’t of interest to me, but Anderson is. I’ve seen Andy a few times in person and been to Watch What Happens Live—not to flex. I love storied American families and find Anderson’s background extraordinary, and if you can’t see him speak about it live, you should watch the documentary he made with his mom, Gloria Vanderbilt called Nothing Left Unsaid, or listen to his podcast, All There Is. Flip-flopping between GOAT Housewife montages and Anderson making everyone cry, this was one of the highlights of my year and reminded me why getting out of the house and going to live events is so important, even if you have to fight for your life on Ticketmaster.
On Saturday, my friend Maddie and I braved the sub-zero temperatures to make my first trip to Happier Grocer, something that’s been dubbed “NYC’s Erewhon” if you’re unfamiliar. Talk about people watching. I’ll definitely be back when it’s warmer and I’m richer. These snacking croutons are my new favorite thing ever. Their curry chicken salad was also great.
We then traversed to Manhattan’s most pleasant shopping center, 5th Ave in Flatiron, to visit the Intimissimi store. I’ve had my eyes on one of their black turtlenecks for a very long time, and I decided I couldn’t go a second longer without it. I got a medium because they were out of smalls, and there’s virtually no difference. Sisterhood of the traveling cashmere over there.
At 3, I had an appointment at Spencer’s Spa in Soho. I bought the January reset 2-pack because I had a moment of weakness and it felt like a smart investment. I got a 60 minute massage which was just what the doctor ordered, but I kind of felt like the experience as a whole didn’t totally match up with the price I paid. There aren’t any rooms, just stalls with curtains, and mine was near the door where the bell goes off every 10 minutes, and the receptionist greets people and guides them to their session. There also aren’t any amenities, which is a big miss for me, someone obsessed with the spa experience as a whole. It is beautiful in there, and my therapist was awesome. I’ll probably get a facial as my second session. More on that later I suppose.
On Tuesday, my mom and I have a reservation at the hottest new restaurant in town, Danny’s. If you’ve been and have any recommendations, let us know. I’m probably going to get the drink that’s named after me. We also both love an ice cream sundae. It must be genetic.
As far as my weekly media consumption goes, I’ve been pretty preoccupied with all of the public beef happening. Beckham vs. Beckham-Peltz. Karamo vs. the Fab 4. It’s honestly exhausting being someone whose life is completely unaffected by all of this but feels very interconnected nonetheless. I’m leaning towards Posh’s side in the Beckham saga, but I think everyone is telling the truth. I just don’t think you can marry the daughter of a billionaire who has been trying to be an actress for 10 years and then claim you want a private, normal life. In regards to Queer Eye, Bobby Berk is laughing in the distance somewhere far, far away. We need that hot mic tape.
This week’s episode of The Traitors was phenomenal. I’m glad that the weird amnesia spell Colton put everyone under is wearing off, and we all remember who he has been in the past. Lisa Fucking Rinna forever. Rachel Zoe rises again on RHOBH, and episode 3 of The Pitt made me just as nauseous as the last 2 in the best way possible. I also watched Pulp Fiction for the first time, from 11 AM - 2 PM on Sunday morning as the snow fell, which was awesome. One of my favorites in a long time. Very freaky and perverse. But I don’t need to tell you that.
Now that we’ve had our fun, I wanted to dedicate the bottom half of this week’s letter to a place I’ve called a second home for all 25 years of my life, Minnesota.
What’s happening there is fundamentally un-American and something that all sides of the spectrum agree needs to stop. The best people I’ve ever met are from there, and while no state deserves this carnage, this one especially doesn’t.
Standwithminnesota.com is a really helpful resource that gives you both monetized and free ways to support from far away. You can also follow the instructions on this infographic to make sure this doesn’t happen anywhere else ever again:
Coffee Order is going to donate 100% of it’s paid subscription revenue to Minnesota from now until February 20th. A subscription to Coffee Order is $5/month or $2.50 if you have an .edu email. That’s less than a round trip on NYC public transportation ($6), a Starbucks Shaken Espresso ($6.75), and a bagel ($7). Upgrade here:
