My favorite things this winter
Much of it spent in "hibernation".
Recently, I’ve tried to lean into enjoying the little things.
As a lover of things and lists, this came fairly naturally. I’m currently reemerging from a bit of a “hibernation” so to speak, and there were a lot of things that made every day just a little bit brighter. Here are my favorites so far this winter:
Even if I’m not doing anything on a given day, it’s important for me to get up and make myself look like I didn’t just wake up 30 seconds ago. My routine is as follows—Merit’s glow serum, Anastasia brow gel, curl my eyelashes with no product, and now, the Rhode Pocket Blush. It comes in truly adorable form, and will be great once I return to society to just toss into my bag and head out the door.
La Roche Posay Cicaplast Cream
I forgot the effect Tretinoin has on my skin during the winter. I begin to moult like a reptile on my face. This requires something that won’t clog my pores, but will have me waking up with a natural rehydrated glow. La Roche Posay’s Cicaplast cream was first recommended to me on my trip to Paris last spring, and while it’s not something I could use all year round, it really comes in handy during the colder, drier months. You can also use it as a spot treatment where needed with dry or irritated skin.
As I creep closer and closer to my Goodreads goal of 25 books this year, I chose my next title to be something from the self help variety, one I don’t normally visit. I was drawn to 10% Happier after seeing it was about a former skeptic and cynic of meditation who suffered from panic attacks, something I can relate to. It truly added many tools to my anxiety toolbox, and also provided me with a new hobby.
Olivia Jade’s vlogs
I’ve been an Olivia Jade stan since the luxury Christmas hauls (if you’re reading this Olivia—PLEASE BRING THEM BACK). I still browse through YouTube from time to time, and Olivia’s channel is one I find myself visiting time and time again recently, often watching multiple back to back. She has a calming aura that’s perfect for doing mindless tasks like cleaning my room or cooking, and the never seen but felt essence of Jacob Elordi is always helpful.
Sauna blanket
This winter is all about wellness for me. My mom bought a sauna blanket a little over a year ago, and it’s really helped make going home feel like a retreat. I wrap myself in this cozy little burrito, sweating my problems and toxins away for around thirty minutes, while watching some form of Bravo. Can you think of anything better?
French toast lattes
This list is getting niche. I realize this may not be available to everyone, but if you’re local to a Granola Bar, they have a french toast flavored latte that I’ve been getting religiously every day. It’s just a latte with maple syrup and cinnamon, and while I haven’t tried myself to recreate it just yet, I’m sure it’s not too difficult.
Earflap beanies
I love the winter because of the opportunities to wear accessories. I love a scarf, I love mittens, and most of all, I love winter hats. I got this one from Kith, and it makes me feel like an ice princess in the best way. Thank god it’s finally cold enough to enjoy.
New UGGs
I treated myself to the pair of Tasman’s I put in my first gift guide, and they truly spark joy with every wear. They’re super soft, the color of my childhood bedroom, and provide warmth from my toes up.
Cluttered bags
One of my favorite Instagram accounts right now is from a new accessory brand called Auto Studio. They have various people spill their bags and itemize everything they carry, which has given me Mary Poppins-esque aspirations, foreshadowed with the Pocket Blush above.

I want a sauna blanket soooo bad
