NYFW SS23 looks and where I would wear them
A look's a look.
New York Fashion Week never ceases to instill the fear of god in me every time it rolls around these streets.
From the looming influencers on every street corner near my apartment, to the impending run-ins with celebrities I act like I know personally in my mind, to even just following my favorite writers and bloggers online and wondering how they can possibly attend ten parties in one night, it's just non-stop peril.
However, the silver lining of it all for me is the clothes! Imagine that, actually focusing on the clothes during fashion week…
Here are my ten favorite looks from this week so far, and where I would wear them to.
Collina Strada Look 43: to the bar the night before Thanksgiving
The night before Thanksgiving is the time to stunt on everyone who didn’t think you were cute in high school. Also to showcase that you have a great sense of style if you’re me. So, what better way to do both of those things at once than wear this Collina Strada closing look (as seen on King Princess)?
Sandy Liang Look 1: to a barre class at the Equinox
I fantasize about dressing as Devon Lee Carlson or Addison Rae do for their private Forma Pilates classes in LA. They never wear sneakers, tend to veer on the side of ballet-cosplay, and are never not serving. This look would be perfect for the minimal yet dynamic movements, and the ballerina-core aesthetic I’m shooting for.
Khaite Look 39: to work on a cold day
There’s nothing chicer than a big coat. An extremely oversized coat where the only thing exposed is my head, neck, and hands? Extremely chic. I also enjoy looking like I’m famous on the commute trying not to be sighted, so these sunglasses really complete the whole vibe.
Tory Burch Look 10: on the subway during rush hour
There’s nothing worse than being body to body after a long day in the office. To me, this Tory Burch look would provide a fashionable, cocoon-esque barrier to hide in, and prevents me from rubbing shoulders in 90 degree weather. Bonus points for the fabulous Mary Jane.
The Row Look 27: on the 5 minute walk to the deli during lunch to avoid as much sun on my face, shoulders, and hands as possible
At the ripe age of 23, I’m taking every anti-aging precaution possible (before Botox). I use retinol at night, never miss a day of sun protection, and am one incident of accidental prolonged exposure away from ordering a visor with wings. However, this hat and light spring trench combination should allow me to travel to and from my desk from the ten minutes a day I go outside without any worries.
Staud Look 37: sitting at a cute cafe by myself
I live for a diaper short. In this fantasy world where I’m deciding I could wear various couture pieces for ridiculous outings, I also have legs for days that make them look effortless on me. Paired with a simple white tee, ballet flat, and oversized bag, I can just picture myself sitting alone somewhere like Buvette, looking mysterious while reading a book (that’s really just a celebrity memoir but I’ll pretend it’s Joan Didion or something).
Send this to someone to let them know that our spring/summer wardrobes have landed and it’s going to be a stunt-full spring.
