Summer may be gone but the blog is back
My personal strike has ended
Having a hobby is something I’ve found to be difficult. Especially when that hobby is something I have to do every day for work anyway, which in this case, writing is.
I also chronically struggle with burnout, which toward the beginning of this summer was climbing to an all time high. As summer progressed, I found myself uninterested in new shows, new podcasts, new music, and the all around ‘hot goss’ that typically rules my life (and this blog).
Instead of Keeping Up with the Kardashians™ like I used to, or watching every new show that Netflix churns out, or even commenting on fashion world drama that used to rule each and every brain cell of mine, I find myself now rewatching Friday Night Lights or old RHONY every night (with the exception of Mondays for new RHONY, which I will be getting to next week), listening to Folklore and Evermore for the umpteenth time, and reserve only around ten minutes before bed to journal personally (which I would never subject any of you to).
But as the air is getting crisper, the leaves are turning, and the Starbucks fall menu has finally found its way back into my life, I’ve acquired a newfound motivation for getting back into the hobbies that mean most to me, and the top of that list, is this.
Without further ado, here are my top ten favorite things from this summer.
10. And Just Like That: Season 2
I genuinely love this show. I have a real, authentic, genuine appreciation for every cringe moment, every character (except for Che Diaz), and every plotline that happened. I won’t even pretend that I didn’t love any second of it. And this writer’s/SAG strike better end soon, because I need season 3.
9. Jorts
I wore these jorts from The Frankie Shop nearly three times a week this summer. I dressed them up with high boots and heels, I dressed them down with water shoes, I wore them to work, I wore them to Trader Joes. I got so many compliments every single time, and I seriously wanted to order a second pair just so that I could always have them no matter what.
8. Friday Night Lights
Deciding to rewatch Friday Night Lights was one of my best ideas in recent times. This show is one of the greatest ever made and nobody can change my mind. Tim Riggins for life.
7. Nike x Martine Rose Shocks
I had not taken advantage of my new footwear job until about five months in when I got the Martine Rose x Nike Shocks. I feel unbelievably cool every time I wear them, and consider them easy to dress up since they have a kitten heel-esque silhouette. These I will be carrying into fall, and I can’t wait to do so.
6. The Dagne Dover Large London Carryall
I personally always struggle with my luggage. I also had never invested in the Beis Weekender, but only heard terrible things. I’m obsessed with this duffle from Dagne Dover, it’s the perfect size for a weekend trip, super easy to carry in the airport, has a phone slot, detachable pouch on a string, and has a slot that attaches to your suitcase for hands-free movement, which helps you avoid looking like an insane bag lady. I’m sure eventually I’ll invest in the other sizes as well.
5. Chickee’s in Williamsburg
This is useless unless you live in NYC, but Chickee’s Vintage in Williamsburg has hands-down taken the role as one of my favorite stores in the city. While expensive, I’ve made some amazing forever purchases there (including Chanel ballet flats that were at an incomparable price), and have proudly taken some of the most costly lunch breaks of my office here.
4. Making martinis at home
I moved apartments, and with moving gifted me a kitchen island that I have now deemed a perfect bar. For some reason, martinis seemed impossible to create at home. However, my mom gifted me pre-made martini mix, which included the perfect olive brine for a delicious dirty martini. Paired with our adorable glassware, our apartment is now one of my favorite drink spots in the city.
3. Levi's Baggy Dad Jeans
I actually didn’t pull the trigger on these until this weekend, but every time I’ve seen the Levi Baggy Dad jeans in the wild, I’ve told myself that I absolutely needed them no matter what. They’re arriving this week and I’m beyond excited. I think they will be equal to what the jorts were to me this summer. Currently on sale for $75 here.
2. Half & half in my coffee
As someone who succumbed to the dairy free milk trend a few years ago for absolutely no reason, I take back everything and have resumed putting half & half in my coffee. It’s 100x better, and as oat milk has been revealed to be terrible for you, what’s truly the difference? My midwestern genes were built for dairy, why would I deny them the pleasure?
1. Jones Road Miracle Balm
This is probably the most used item in my makeup bag. I have three colors, and use it all over my face. Whether it’s on my cheeks, nose, or lips, this was seriously the best summer beauty product I could’ve had. It will probably last me until I’m around 80 also, so it’s definitely worth every penny.
Wow, that felt great! Without getting too anecdotal, I’ve tried to write this post many times without actually getting the words out there. Here’s to many more Coffee Order’s this fall <3

love this
I love that you love friday night lights. And absolute preach to the return to dairy in your coffee - welcome back
