The beauty of life is trying new things.
I go to work five days a week. I take the same route, make the same subway connections, walk the same sidewalks, get matcha from the same places, and eat the same breakfast every morning.
I come home, I go to the gym and do the same things every time, then I shower and I make dinner. I watch the same shows on their respective days of the week. I scroll Instagram to look at all of the same accounts, and I browse the same websites. I FaceTime my sister. I apply the same products on my face, I sleep in the same bed, and I set my alarm for the same time every morning. I put on the same Hatch meditation, and then, I drift off to sleep.
Repetition is a normal daily experience I’m sure we all share. But sometimes, it makes the days blend together into weeks that go by like a blur, and suddenly, I’m in the movie Groundhog’s Day. To me, it’s very chic to have a routine or have your “places”. This is why I revisited that foot massage place I told you guys about last weekend again this weekend, or went to the same bar I always go to, or went to the same 10:45 Pilates class I go to every Saturday morning. But this is different than going through the motions. Those are more ritualistic, more comfortable, more personal and precious.
Therefore, it’s important to spice up my life with new things to not only write about in this blog, but also to grow and evolve. You truly will never know unless you try.
The first thing I tried this week was kombucha. A new bodega opened up near my office, and it has the best assortment of snacks and drinks I’ve ever seen. I have never had soda in my entire life, and I do not plan to. I really only drink water, tea, and juice, with the exception of alcohol. I do not love carbonation, but as I get older, I’m getting used to it. Recently, I’ve been looking for a liquid treat to brighten the middle of my day, and with limited options, was gravitated towards kombucha. After a week of trying, my favorite brand is called Good Mood. Shoutout to the mint and basil lemonade flavor. They’re made out of Brooklyn, so I believe they’re only local to the city. The bodega on my block also has it by the grace of god.
I also tried those David protein bars everyone has been talking about. I first read about them in Feed Me, and since I have a GoMarco bar every day, I thought I should give them a whirl. They were $5 a pop which is outlandish for a protein bar. I rated them a 7/10. They were a little chalky and had that protein aftertaste you get from shakes. I like GoMacro the best still, I tried a Barbell bar on Sunday and would rate it also a 7/10. I heard the David bars are hard to come by, so traverse to Williamsburg if you’re in search.
The next thing I tried falls into our shopping category for this week. I’ve always wanted a pair of capri’s after they popped off last year. I thrifted a pair of Nike Dri-FIT ones from the Salvation Army the last time I was in LA, but those were more for working out and causal lewks. I own a pair of gauchos as you all know, but those were flowy and not as structured as I wanted. I was longing for a pair of real trouser-adjacent capri’s I could wear to work, out, dress up, and dress down.
Although I have nepotistic ties to this company, I wholeheartedly love it and endorse it honestly. Favorite Daughter hit it out of the park with these pants. Sara Foster posted them and I immediately sent them to my Favorite Daughter plug (my mother) and said they were a requirement for my closet. If there was a sports betting for fashion, I would bet these will be my most-worn item this Spring. They’re an incredible fabric—a viscose, nylon, elastane blend that’s thick and flattering—with a tailored waistband and invisible zipper on the side for the perfect fit. I can envision hundreds of outfits, the possibilities are truly endless. Here’s how I styled them for work this week. It was way too cold to wear them, but sometimes, we can’t care. I paired them with an Abercrombie turtleneck and ponyhair Prada loafers I got for under $100 on The Real Real.
The last new thing I tried this week was reformer Pilates. I love mat Pilates and go weekly, sometimes multiple times a week when I can get it in. I always feel very strong, the clothes are really cute, and I also feel like it gives a good stretch. My friends and I decided to embark on a new type of hangout for us and do a workout class together at BodyRok. I was so afraid of the reformer I had a dream about it the night before. It was existing in my subconscious all week. On Sunday, I slicked back my hair, put on a ballerina-esque wrap from Beyond Yoga, and hit the road on the F train up to Chelsea.
People who do reformer Pilates should be police officers, firemen, enlisted in the military, and professional athletes. I swear to god I have never taken a workout class so difficult. I called the instructor over for help more than once, and am truly scared for how I will feel in the morning. Those springs are no joke. I was terrified I was going to fall off of the reformer throughout the routine. My legs were like jelly as I walked home to get some steps in, and how cute my outfit was had no affect on my strength. That being said, I would like to integrate this into my daily routine at least once a week, treating myself to a class outside of my typical Equinox activity. I’ll be jacked by this time next year, watch out everyone.
Besides trying new things, this weekend was spent having drinks at Bar Valentina (great), talking to strangers at Clandestino, day-to-night drinking on Saturday, meeting a gorgeous Brussels Griffon named Cash, another foot massage as I mentioned (and am already looking forward to again next weekend), and binge-watching episodes I’ve already seen of Law and Order SVU. All of my regular shows have wrapped up—RHOSLC, The Traitors, and now my life has a Severance-shaped hole in it. I don’t know what I’m going to do come Thursday. I guess I’ll be pretending like it’s not happening. I wish I could be severed until next season comes out.

Here is a composite of said weekend. I made one of my favorite flower arrangements to date, consisting of mum balls, calla lilies, and ranunculus. Trader Joe’s was fully stocked with their best. My walking around outfit was defined by comfort. When you’re perusing Lower Manhattan for hours, getting more than 10,000 steps, what better shoes to wear than Burberry flats with no arch support? They really are extremely comfortable. My room was so adorable even when messy, I just love my little house! And of course, Cash, stealing our hearts.
One thing that really has me in a rut is food. Laundry and making my lunch for work are the two burdens of my life, and they seem like they will never end. If I were a billionaire, I would have someone who just does laundry and a private chef. I’m making old classics this week, the Erewhon kale salad and salmon with orzo. If anyone has any good recipes, Instagram accounts, or websites they use to meal plan, this is a cry for help.
Do you guys like these blogs where I ramble about things I’ve done, even if it’s boring? Or should I go back to more fashion-based opinion pieces? I’m open to feedback, dear reader. I will leave you all with a food recommendation I am stuck on in an obsessive way: blood orange mochi from Trader Joe’s. Run, do not walk.

I can't believe you've never had soda!! I must know what your drink of choice is to accompany a hotdog.
Also the blurb about reformer Pilates is cracking me up
